Ford Mustang is an automobile series first launched in 1964 by Ford Motors company. It is the longest-produced vehicle by Ford in the market. Ford Mustang: Features

Ford Mustang from 2008 to 2014 is not so advanced in features. Those advanced features are available in higher trims, which includes infotainment and in-car communication. The stereo controls are embedded in the steering wheel. The Mustang’s technology was upgraded in 2015, frontal collision warning and adaptive cruise control were also equipped. Premium Mustang comes with an upgraded SYNC3 infotainment system. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also available.

The newer Mustang models have a more modern look. There is a large galloping grille with the horse logo on the front. There are sculpted lines on the bonnet. Also, Mustang gives a muscular look with blistered wheel arches. The roof is low and with the small glass are. It comes with lateral support and six-way electrical adjustment. Mustang is equipped with an infotainment system and satellite navigation is optional. The 2018 model comes with a standard 12-inch dashboard which changes the display depending on the drive mode selected. Ford Mustang’s premium sound system is better than the premium system of its competitors like the Audi TT and BMW 4 series.

Both versions of Mustang, fastback or convertible comes with four seats, except for GT350R with no rear seats. The seats are well-padded and supportive of the headroom and legroom. The rear seats in Mustang are tight.

Boot Capacity

Ford Mustang offers a big boot as compared to its competitors. The boot capacity of Mustang is 408 liters which are smaller than the BMW 4 series which offers 445 liters. You can fold the back seats with a 50:50 ratio to increase the storage.

Driving & Handling

There is a difference between fastback and convertible Mustang in terms of driving because of the different weights, tires, and engines. If you’re looking for a graceful drive, then this car might not be for you. The Mustang’s steering is a bit slow and requires relatively more muscles to handle. Its weight can vary depending on the different drive modes. It doesn’t turn quite sharply as compared to Audi TT, but you’ll feel more in control of the front tires. An ambitious driver will find the Mustang’s driving more fun. Mustang comes with different driving modes like Normal, Track and snow, sport+ and drag strip. Mustang gives an amazing performance on twisty roads. You can change directions quickly because of its well-balanced body. The Turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3-liter is flexible which gives the horsepower of 720bhp. The power doesn’t fade away until you reach 5500rpm. On the other hand, the 5.0-liter V8 feels more powerful with the horsepower of 454bhp.

Ford claimed that it can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds. On the slippery road, it goes from 0 to 60mph in 5.6 seconds. You might feel a bit more wind and noise than its rivals but the noise fades away at a higher speed.

Pricing

Prices have gone up in this decade. The price range starts from £33,995 to £45,955 which is quite reasonable as compared to its rivals. 

Running Costs

Ford Mustang maybe is relatively cheap to buy, but running costs are a bit steeper. 5.0-liter V8 gives the mileage of 22.8 with CO2 emission of 278g/km. Compared to V8, EcoBoost is better in terms of fuel economy. It gives the mileage of 31.3mpg with CO2 emission of 204g/km and 209g/km for the convertible. Audi TT is still ahead of Mustang in fuel economy. Auto transmission costs more so manual transmission is recommended.

Ford Mustang is quite ahead in terms of safety measures. However, Available safety features are rear parking sensors, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring system, and rear cross-traffic alert.

What’s new in 2020?

Ford Mustang offers a four-cylinder with a more sensible engine and new advanced track-ready equipment. So, the new high-performance package adds 330bhp and this setup is available on convertible and coupe. FordPass Connect comes as a standard now. They added four new colors: Twister Orange, Iconic Silver, Grabber Lime, and Red Hot Metallic.
